Paul Zweifel was the head of mathematical physics in the Dept. of Physics at Virginia Tech (=VPI) during my two-year sojourn there in 1989-1991. We met again in Torun, during one of the annual conferences, and at the 17 th International Conference on Transport Theory at Imperial College, 8-13 July, 2001. He originated this series of conferences, and has been to them all.
