Applications of thermodynamics to industrial and biological problems has been made by R. Wojnar; he has, for example, explained why root vegetables such as carrots sometimes split open when stored. He has also made advances in theory. In his paper, Acta Physica Polonica 32, 333-, 2002, he generalises my models of coupled density-energy equations in an external field, (paper [121]), while still obeying the first and second laws of thermodynamics.
