Lars Garding, mathematician

Garding was professor of mathematics at Lund for many years, and he retired recently. I first met him at the Varenna summer school, 1958, where he and J. L. Lions taught us distribution theory. Garding also presented the proof of the Jost-Lehmann-Dyson representation, due to himself and Wightman. This proof was not published, and my use of it in my Ph. D. thesis was not considered rigorous by those not privy to the proof. See Kallén's page, and also Pauli's page for more about this conference.
